All buildings are heritage listed and boast beautiful wooden ceilings and incredible acoustics.

The original stained-glass windows in The Arch are backlit and used in conjunction with ceiling halogen lights to accentuate the wood and create stunning house lighting.

The Studio offers a more contemporary feel with it's black box style, and can offer a more versatile canvas for designers. The configuration is adaptable, and details on this can be obtained through the venue.

Tech at HST

Our venues are equipped to meet the technical needs of most theatre, dance, and music productions — including multiple shows during the Adelaide Fringe. While many companies choose to bring their own gear, we’re flexible and happy to accommodate external equipment as well.

Holden Street Theatres is proudly supported by AJ Light & Sound, who can supply additional equipment on request or assist you directly with any specific technical needs.

Our Resident Technical Manager is available to help you navigate our equipment and ensure you’re comfortable using everything on site.

Your hire includes maintenance and replacement should anything go wrong. Please discuss any technical requirements or concerns with the Venue Manager when confirming your booking.

At Holden Street Theatres, we’re always looking for new ways to present exceptional performances and create unique experiences. We love exploring unconventional spaces — in the past, we’ve hosted site-specific works in caravans, gardens, and even shipping containers.

The Barbara Hardy Garden and outdoor bar offer wonderful options for private functions, while the indoor bar can be transformed into an intimate cabaret space seating approximately 50–80 people.
