SAWT
The South Australian Writers Theatre - SAWT
What is SAWT? The South Australian Writers' Theatre Inc [SAWT] is a group of writers who specialise in the writing of scripts for stage and radio. The primary aim is to increase the quantity and improve the quality of South Australian writing for performance. SAWT next meets on the second Tuesday of every month (Dates for 2011 TBC) at the Writers' Centre, Rundle Street, Adelaide. If you're in town, pop in and join us. What is Sunday with SAWT? Once a month, from May to November each year, SAWT presents moved rehearsed play readings to the general public at the Holden Street The Sunday afternoon readings are preceded by a soup lunch, and the variety of tasty home-made soups available for selection, has become a talking point among the growing number of patrons. The lunch is usually accompanied by an address from an invited speaker, who leads into the play reading. SAWT is fortunate to have received the support of many talented professional actors who have given their time to stage these readings. The selected scripts have been through the SAWT peer review process and have been workshopped to ensure that the audience receives an interesting afternoon's theatre, to complement their gastronomical experience. The lunch is served from 1:00 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door, include lunch and all prceeds go to SAWT Dates for 2010 (details on individual plays below)
