What is The Graduate Season?

The Graduate Season is an opportunity for Graduates from both Adelaide College for the Arts (ACArts) and Flinders University & the Flinders University Drama Centre to perform a play of their choice in the professional arena, launching themselves into the industry and enabling them to create their own networks.

They may use the opportunity to work with professional arts workers however, the production MUST be made up of 80% graduate students.

The productions will be presented co-productions with Holden Street Theatres Company Inc. and will include the following.

The Graduates are given the theatre for three weeks in which time they must perform a play or plays that showcase themselves. The play must be a full length play with an Interval of a minimum of 20 minutes or two short plays presented as a package with an Interval of a minimum of 20 minutes. The play/s must be ensemble pieces with 4 or more actors and be performed within the dates of 30th of June and 31st of December the year following graduation i.e. 2010 Graduates perform in 2011.

The Theatre will be available to them to present their work however, they must cover ALL areas of putting on a show including Marketing, Production, Front of House and Cast and Crew and in return the Graduates will get the income from ticket sales (less booking fees where applicable).

The Theatre will provide either The Studio or The Arch (depending on dates, availability and suitability) for three weeks and one day starting on a Sunday and ending on a Sunday complete with a basic Lighting and Sound package free of charge, including use of the in-house digital projector and stand-up piano.

We will supply a Venue Manager, fully operated and staffed bar (not negotiable), Cleaning, Car Park and we will make available templates for budgets, co-op and one off performance contracts and training in all areas of Front of House including Box office and ticketing. We also offer to take the Graduates through venue contracts and show what to look for and we will suppport the Graduates' marketing campaign with a media release, E-mail-out to the Theatre’s mailing list, an advertisement in the Venue*Tix E-Newsletter and advertising on the venue's website.
