Urban Myth Theatre of Youth gives 'freedom' to young artists in their fifth annual production created by emerging writers, directors and actors

Director: Isabelle Danforth-Smith and Guy O'Grady (I Am The Messiah); David Hirst (Industrial Park)

Cast: Urban Myth Theatre of Youth ensembles

Now in its fifth season, Out Of The Boot is an annual production by the Urban Myth Theatre of Youth for the Holden Street Theatres stage. The production is designed to encourage, support and nourish young artists through a series of mentorships, culminating in a spectacular series of performances.

With a theme of 'freedom', this year's Out Of The Boot production involves two ensembles of young actors aged 14-17 presenting two half hour plays. I Am The Messiah explores the dark side of reality TV, while Industrial Park deals with issues such as peer pressure, drugs and accountability for your actions through the story of a street kid who join a gang to gain a sense of family.

SAVE UNION HALL

We have less than a fortnight to do our BEST for Union Hall

the following is a letter from Bob Lott to the patrons of Holden Street Theatres

The Provisional Listing has held the destruction at bay but it is not enough

We are getting fabulous support from Tim Lloyd at the Tiser at the crucial times in our campaign.

Our previous Minister Weatherill finally came out after excellent support for Union Hall was shown by many people and said he wished to see Union Hall retained and the Deputy Chief Executive Cultural - Development and Corporate – Dpt Premier and Cabinet, Greg Mackie said on ABC Radio he wanted the Hall save from destruction and Chris Rann is very strongly supportive BUT we have had a change of Minister, the new Minister is Paul Caica

WE NEED EVERYONE TO WRITE TO PAUL CAICA RIGHT NOW!!!!

Paul is new to this portfolio and we doubt that he would be going back and looking at the letters sent to his predecessor.

Beside glowing architectural recognition as one of the most important theatres in Australia the criteria for consideration are the Hall’s contribution to SA’s History, its special cultural qualities and its degree of creative excellence.

We can do this, the Heritage community is very strongly behind this, we are told Minister Caica is a reasonable man and listening to our story, whilst significant Government members have shown support the Arts Minister, the Premier, has not and huge numbers of others have, The Adelaide City Council, Isobel Redman, Michelle Lensink and The Liberal Party, the Adelaide branch of the Labour Party, most of the independent MPs, the National Trust, the Architects’ professional bodies, many Senior University Staff members and a large number of concerned citizens are behind our efforts.

PLEASE WRITE (AGAIN IF NECESSARY) TO MINISTER CAICA WITH COPIES TO PREMIER RANN, MINISTER HILL AND MINISTER HOLLOWAY WITHIN THE NEXT FEW DAYS!!!!!!!!

Email Adresses are minister.caica@sa.gov.au, premier@dpc.sa.gov.au , minister.health@health.sa.gov.au , ministerholloway@saugov.sa.gov.au

It would be good if you can let us know if you have sent a letter and any responses so we can argue the depth of support email admin@holdenstreettheatres.com

Thank you
