Pearls
Tracy Crisp presents
In the search for a string of pearls, a daughter travels to her abandoned childhood home and a mother travels from Port Pirie to Paris without ever leaving Australia. Family relics abound: ashtrays, a Princess Diana jigsaw, a commode as a table. Memories are ignited, questioned, and still the pearls cannot be found. Family fractures deepen until finally a heartbreaking, but healing truth is revealed. A story that will make you laugh, then cry, then laugh again.
Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Australian Refugee Association's “Art at ARA” school holiday program for young people.
At the heart of Pearls is my mum’s commitment to helping children and young people make art. Whether it’s to help us make us sense of ourselves and our world; to share our ideas; or simply to make something beautiful … art matters.
Praise for Pearls
"This is a tale of love and forgiveness, of parents and children, of taking chances, of growing up, moving out, moving on, coming home, and looking back, without letting grief triumph over us. The emotional significance of the title will only become fully apparent by the end, when it delivers a remarkable impact." - Anthony Vawser, Adelaide Theatre Guide
