WHO KILLED AGATHA CHRISTIE?

It’s December 1926 and famed crime-novelist Agatha Christie has mysteriously disappeared without a trace. Meanwhile, eight of her biggest fans come together at a secluded English manor house to celebrate their favourite author...but could one of them secretly be a cold-blooded killer?

Playfully mixing fact and fiction, this loving tribute to Christie’s life and work has all the trappings of a classic whodunnit; twists, turns, cups of tea, and a mystery that will keep you guessing right to the very end.

Parlour Games Q&A

What do you love about murder mysteries?

The thing I love most is about murder mysteries is how they pit the audience against the author in a battle of wits. Can the audience see through the author’s tricks? Or will the author have the sleight of hand to keep them guessing? There are rules, of course; eight suspects, one culprit, and there has to be enough clues to make it fair. You want the audience afterwards to say “I can’t believe I didn’t spot that!”

For Parlour Games, we’re taking this game element even further by inviting the audience to vote for who they think “dunnit” using their smartphones before the answer is revealed. If you fancy yourself an armchair detective, this is your chance to prove it.

If you could have dinner with Agatha Christie, what would you ask her?

Fancy a game of Cluedo?

What is your favourite prop in the show?

The murder weapon, of course! But you’ll have to see the show to find out exactly what it is...

If you could play any famous detective, who would it be and why?

It would require a hell of a lot of make-up (plus a beard-trim) but it’s got to be Miss Marple. I love how, more often than not, she has absolutely no business getting involved in the investigation - yet she always worms her way in anyway with that ‘little old lady’ mixture of cunning and charm. Half the fun of a Marple mystery is seeing how she’ll manage to crack the case without much more than a pair of knitting needles at her disposal.

What are you most looking forward to in Adelaide Fringe 2021?

So many great acts this year, I’m really keen to check out some of the other shows at Holden Street Theatres, particularly The Twins, Dirt, and The Bakers. One silver lining to the crazy state of the world right now is that it’s giving local Australian talent an opportunity to really shine.
