Adelaide Fringe 2020 Praise

★★★★"There’s almost certainly nothing else like this on at this year’s Fringe, and it’s definitely worth checking out." - Adelaide Theatre Guide

★★★★"The energy never lets up from go to whoa. Cowcher wows wearing an anthropomorphic animal design that makes him larger than life... Gracie Smith compels you into the gothic Norse underworld with her authority over the drums. Paradise Lui electrifies the air with skillful fretwork and faultless fingering." - The Barefoot Review

★★★★"It is far from conventional, but it ebbs and flows with the story remarkably and captivates the audience... the brilliance is how these three performers bring a modern feel to the chronicle and a relevance to today’s world." - Glam Adelaide

Darkness. There are sounds of ice melting, glaciers creaking and a cold winter wind blowing. A tall, hunched figure in a pool of light appears: shirtless with tight black jeans and platform boots. He has a mighty beard, and a microphone.

Ragnarøkkr is Armageddon with the armour stripped off and the speakers turned up to 11. Meet the band at the burning centre of the end days: Nick Cave meets Ziggy Stardust in a Norse inspired musically riotous fall from grace.

From Variegated Productions comes this hotly anticipated follow up show to The Man and the Moon. Get ready to rock until the bitter end; this is a show about coming to terms with the fact that it’s time to move on.

Fringe World Praise for Ragnarokkr

★★★★ 1/2 "The music that forms the core of the show is fantastic...It’s a stunning hour of rock cabaret." - Gutter Culture

★★★★ 1/2 "Imagine the coolest band you can – now multiply that by infinity!... Go and see the show" - Fourth Wall Media

8/10 "With humour, history and heavy sounds, Ragnarøkkr is a must this Fringe season... Audiences can expect to be treated to a standout show, and something to talk and muse about for weeks to come." - X-Press Magazine

"Wild, crazy and very, very loud, this traditional Norse story of Ragnarök is told in a new unique way." - Stage Whispers

"the talent witnessed at this event is unparalleled."- Around the Sound

"But the most incredible part of Ragnarøkkr has to be the music. Joe Paradise Lui slayed every chord on guitar and Gracie Mae Smith blew the audience away on drums. The song transitions are seamless and the loud thrumming in the intimate room makes you feel like you have a bird in your chest pounding against your ribs." - Weekend Notes

Praise for Variegated Productions

★★★★½ "some of the best and most compelling theatre seen in Perth in recent times." - The West Australian, for Frankie's

"[St John] Cowcher is such a disarming performer and his songs - sometimes a little like Tom Waits...sometimes Jimmy Webb... - and the work of the gifted [Brett] Smith and his trio are so cool and hot" - The West Australian, for The Man and the Moon

"[Libby] Klysz's direction is tight throughout, the production is clever and skilful, and all four performers look like they're having a great time" - The West Australian, for These Guys
