"Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past". - George Orwell
Once upon a time, in a faraway land...it happened...did not happen...could have happened.
History is passed on like stories from generation to generation. But what if the story is not what it seems? This performance by Australian choreographer Lina Limosani and UK Bharatanatyam artist Seeta Patel tackles whitewashed, 'pretty' histories. In a world where history is dressed up to be a more acceptable, consumable narrative, especially in Australia and Britain, 'Not Today's Yesterday' challenges these narratives and strives to open up conversations about inclusivity, geopolitical relations, and historical truth.
'Not Today's Yesterday' is a part of Holden Street Theatres' exciting dance program for the 2018 Adelaide Fringe.
