Here, Elsewhere: An Interactive Art Installation
Claire Jeannot present
Claire Jeannot invites you inside a space inhabited by movement.
A camera beckons you to step into Here, Elsewhere, a piece that explores the nature of movement. How often are we truly present, focussing only on what's in front of us? Jeannot prompts us to question our every move - albeit in a way that helps us live in the moment.
Come along to Here, Elsewhere and open up your phone camera. You will look through the lens at Jeannot's movements - what is it you see? Share this and compare it with the other spectators around you. You'll likely find that everyone views the world a little differently.
Cast & Crew
Claire Jeannot - Writer/Performer
Claire Jeannot is a French dancer who studies in Montréal, Canada. Through her travels, she became interested about being present at the place and moment in which she is living, discovering, and sharing, and to be present for friends, family, new families, strangers and anonymous. For her, movement is one of keys to stay here, today, now. But with ties in different countries, how can share be fully present? So today she uses video, one of the most popular ways to bridge spatial gaps.
Hubert R. de Roy - Videographer
Hubert R. De Roy lives in Montreal and works in the audiovisual field for 10 years. Holder of a bachelor's degree in Intermedia / Cyberarts at Concordia University, he works as a director, editor, cameraman and sound designer. A full-time videographer, he has worked with several companies on various corporate, promotional and museum-related clips. His personal creations, mainly focused on video art, also led him to work on video clips, installations and video mapping. He has also collaborated with different choreographers and contemporary dance companies, as well as being exhibited in various locations in Quebec.
His works place a special emphasis on the human body, ranging from natural staging to experimental video art. Beyond his eclecticism between organic matter and digital processing, his works aim to demonstrate the impact of technologies on the human body, audiovisual perceptions and social structures.
Kevin Gironnay - Sound
Kevin Gironnay creates acousmatic and mixed music, produces music for installations, videos and dance, and performs improvised music projects, solo or in collaboration. His work focuses on taming chaotic elements to make music into concrete and or conceptual processes. "I have always created my music with movements in mind. Whether composed for a concert or for an installation, the movement is for me the starting point of all musicality. Naturally, dance becomes an ideal context for composing. In collaboration with Claire, it was a matter of accompanying and feeding the movements, from the micro-movement of the hand to the exploration and appropriation of space by a body. All this is for me already full of musicality."
