Post Dining Presents

Post Dining

Post Dining immerses audiences within ten finely curated courses of drinks and desserts. Each marks a stage in the journey, instigating shared experience that explores relationships between people, food, and the dining table. Guided by servers/performers within a constructed space, with live music or visual responses during each night, guests can expect no regular Fringe experience.

The co-producers describe this experimental event as being “driven by engagement, spontaneity and improvisation. With an absent ‘performer’, the dinner table becomes the focal point of our theatre, the script - ten courses of desserts.”

Dependent on audience interaction, Post Dining never completes itself the same way twice. “Our intention is to create a delightfully playful and surprising space where the audiences can begin to expect the unexpected. Food is a creative tool that acts as a universal symbol of connection through which we hope to facilitate authentic participation from the audience; mediated, but never controlled, by us.”

The Adelaide Fringe Cultural Fund has recognised the visionary nature of this event by awarding Post Dining one of eight grants for new innovative works. The duo behind the show express, “we are excited by the opportunities this grant opens up for us. For example, we will now be able to incorporate live musicians and artists to respond creatively as each night unfolds.” With an emphasis on seasonal produce and locally made products, Post Dining is a chance to experience and discover the food of the city in a new way. For visitors, it offers an insight both into South Australia’s celebrated food and experimental arts cultures.

"I came to this event with no expectations and left feeling like I'd just been in wonderland. I would highly recommend Post Dining to dessert connoisseurs who appreciate the magic that arises from the amalgamation of quality food, purposeful atmosphere and the elicitation of curious conversation." - Post Dining Preview Guest
