'Paper Cranes and Diamonds', is a showcase of unique pieces by Brisbane based indie-folk trio 'Ichabod's Crane' and visual artist Dean Loades. Engaging lyrics, dusky sweet vocals, live cello looping, electronics, rhythm and exquisite time-lapse photography are interwoven to create this ambient, other-worldly and engaging show.

Ichabod's Crane began as a musical moniker for singer-songwriter, Charity Carleton, in 2006. Since it's inception, she has performed her unique style of indie-folk to intrigued audiences in Brisbane, Melbourne & Tokyo, as well as at festivals including Peat's Ridge Sustainable Arts and Music Festival (08-09 and 09-10), Ladyfest (Bris), Meow to the Moon (NSW), In the Flesh Festival (Bris) and Women Celebrate (Bris). She has released two solo EP's, 'A Live Bird' and 'The Devil and the Deity', the latter of which was described by Scene magazine as 'hauntingly beautiful' and received national airplay on JJJ. In 2008, she collaborated with Portuguese artist, 'The Partisan Seed' on the duet 'Ofelia', which was well-received with high rotation radio airplay in its home country.

Incorporating the talents of cellist, Sophie Adamus and drummer, Melinda Laidlaw, Ichabod's Crane expanded into a trio in late 2009. Currently also working with Brisbane's renowned, Deep Blue Orchestra, Sophie brings to her cello parts a depth of experience and musical innovation, merging the traditional and modern, with live cello looping and electronic adaption to create layers of resounding bass and intriguing ambient soundscapes. She has worked with artists including Tara Simmons, Emma Dean, Phil McKenna and the Water Signs, NoOsphere, Umoja (17 piece world music ensemble) and Pear and the Awkward Orchestra, as well as facilitated Community Music Projects in Australia, the Solomon Islands, Zimbabwe and Peru.

Drummer Mel Laidlaw treads beautifully the delicate line of percussion in this outfit, alternating between well-crafted, refined rhythm in ambient pieces, to a grounded solid beat in other songs. To the Adelaide Fringe Festival show, the trio add the visual art of photographer, Dean Loades to their pieces, playing to a backdrop of exquisite time-lapse photography from landscapes in Mozambique, Zimbabwe, New Zealand, Australia and South America.
