Arnold Wesker’s The Mistress
Directed by Phillip Parslow
with Martha Lott

Following a **** season in Edinburgh redirected by Phillip Parslow

A rare Wesker treat, The Mistress, is a one woman play with an edge: The famous fashion designer Samantha Milner is an exotic woman with a guilty secret. One she can only share with her closest confidantes, Jessica, Babushka and Ninotchka. As she eagerly awaits “his” call, she runs the gamut of emotions, quarrelling, pleading and tormenting her friends for understanding. The only problem is... they cannot help for they are her dummies....
Penned by one of our greatest living playwrights, Sir Arnold Wesker has created a glorious nugget of comprehension, getting to the core of the complex emotions behind one of our most prolific pastimes… the affair!
Martha and Phillip last worked together on Holden Street’s production of Neil LaBute’s BASH for the Directors' Choice 2006 and this creative union promises to bring a new, fresh and explosive production.

A Solitary Choice
by Sheila Duncan
Directed by Michael Allen
with Tamara Lee

“It all started with the sheep. Up until then I’d never once doubted my life” Michael Allen’s Directors’ Choice debut with one of Adelaide’s favourite Actresses
Following Michael Allen’s clever direction of the Adelaide Theatre Guild’s First Time Out Season Two he and Tamara Lee join together again to bring life to this newly published work.
From South Australian Actress Sheila Duncan comes a touching account of one woman’s choices. Which life will she choose to save? Ruth is realising that she is an average woman in an average life. The dread of spending the rest of her life as a ‘sheep’ leads her on a journey of choices to break free of the flock. The choices to give life, choose life, live for oneself or to live for others are not made and forgotten, they happen every day in many ways and it is always something that we must do alone.
Tamara Lee was last seen at Holden Street in What I Heard About Iraq by Simon Levy for Directors' Choice 2007 (Adelaide Fringe)
