Holden Street was designed and refurbished in 2002 by Martha Lott with the vision to establish a second tier professional production house and create more work in theatre in South Australia, the support of Weslo Holdings Pty Ltd made this possible.

Since then we have experienced virtually exponential growth in both productivity and development.

Here's a brief history of the main achiements since we started.

2002

November - Lease of Holden Street signed

Design and refurbishment begins

2003

January - The Studio refurbishment complete

Co-production with Jimmy Zoole of California Sweet by Neil Simon

Acting classes for 12 -15 year olds weekly run by Martha Lott

Holden Street became supporters of The Nature Foundation of South Australia with in-kind support

2004

January - The Arch refurbishment complete

Holden Street core operation employment approximately 8 people (1 Full Time, 7 Casual)

Adelaide Fringe comes to Holden Street
-Presenter of 1 international production (UK)
-Five Star reviews
-Winner of weekly pick of the fringe award
-3 local companies Chopt Logic, Conscious Theatre & Andrew Jefferis
-1 art exhibition by South Australian indigenous Artist Sam Lester

2005 

Co production with  Chalk Farm Theatre of Dons Party by David Williamson

Directors' Choice in-house production season introduced to create diverse and clever programming and to encourage a strong work ethic toward the making of theatre
